I Have learned a few lesions in ABAP performance tuning that may seem obvious but good to note just the same.

1. Always keep a working copy of the original program to compare your results against when re-coding.

a. This became very handy as I put an extra join in the select statement so that I wouldn’t have to get the information in it’s own select to see if that would increase the speed of execution, but the report came out different than the original. I then remembered that in inner joins, all data that is in all tables for the selection criteria is returned, if anything is not in one of the tables, you get nothing back for that entry at all. I should have used an outer join, but that is beside the point now.

2. When selecting from the database tables, try and use as many of the primary table keys as you have available. I have been told that the data base tables are usually hashed tables the SQL statement using the most keys can retrieve the information the best as compared to using 1 key or a non-key.

3. Used hashed tables whenever you can.

a. I was selecting information into standard tables and then reading the table in a nested loop to fill in the information into the ITAB as I was preparing the output of the report this was causing the tables that I was reading to be looped through at each read and that was time consuming. I had 4 tables with thousands of records in each table. I changed those into hashed tables using the same unique keys as used in the database tables so that when I selected the information for all entries in my internal table using the select distinct * from table into ITAB where key = table-key, I got what I needed and then used the “read table with table key = table-key” statement which with a hashed table has an almost instant return for the item.

When all was said and done, I managed to take a program that was running 13 seconds in the DEV system and trim it down to a 2 second runtime. In the QA system, it ran just as fast. The report returned in just over 2 seconds. The defect stated that it was taking up to an hour to run the report due to the volume of data in the report. This makes a great reason to use hashed tables whenever possible.

Creating a class to use the functionality of the persistent class CL_BCS:

I was searching for a way to use the newer class based methods for sending e-mail instead of the old function module "CALL FUNCTION 'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1'".

I searched Google, SDN, SAP etc, and came up with a blog by Thomas Jung that came real close to doing what I was looking for. He actually created a function module to encapsulate the persistent class and then a special user interface to call it with which was real good. You can see his blog here.

After looking over his blog and getting a grasp on how the e-mail class worked, I thought I would put together something similar but keep it in its own class that my fellow developers could leverage in some of their requirements where e-mailing would be required. I developed a global class named ZCL_EMAIL_CLASS which can then send the e-mail with or without an attachment.

I started by going to SE24 (Class builder) and creating me a new class which I named ZCL_EMAIL_CLASS and then gave it the following attributes:

I started by declaring my first attribute called ca_x - level constant - visibility private type char1 with a value of abap_true. It looked like this:

I did some old fashioned coding which turned out to be pretty cool.

I typed in the remaining constants, data types and tables here and it looked like this:

Press 'save' and the class builder will setup your attributes for you:

Now comes the fun part. Create three methods. One is the main method to call from your program and the other two are to setup the email message and optional attachment.

Set up importing and returning parameters in the main method.

*note added another importing parameter called copy_me importing, pass by value, optional type checkbox so that you won't always get a copy, just when you want one. put a check box parameter in the main program called p_copy to pass to the class.

These are the tables and variables that are to be passed to the class from your programs to be e-mailed.

Now let's put some code into the methods:

METHOD SEND_MAIL_BCS.

*Protect your program from shortdumps by wrapping it in try catch endtry.

Now in the attachment method I put the "if initial" for the table statement so I don't create a blank attachment if I only wanted to send my data in the body of the e-mail.

The hard part is done. Save and activate your class.

It's time to play with a program to use it. I created a sample program called ZTST_EMAIL_CLASS_USAGE_OO to use as an example of how this will all work together.

Execute the program and you will see the options that are available for e-mailing with. If the 'ready to send' check box is not checked the program will not send the e-mail and if the 'send data as an attachment' is not checked no attachment will be sent. If all three are checked you will get both data in the e-mail body and in the attachment. You are completely flexible in this as the attachment table, the attachment title, the email subject and the message body tables are all separate and you can load them as you wish in your program.

With the send data in e-mail body, you get an email that looks like this:

The table passed to the class (I_EMAIL_BODY) had ten lines in it as text_wa0 - text-wa9.

A good way to pass information to the class is to concatenate variable_1 through variable_~ into your work area (type line of table) respecting space (of needed) separated by c_tab (data element abap_char1). This will put your data in columns as a string to be passed to the table and laid out accordingly.

The e-mail that was returned with the attachment checkbox, and the "data in the email box checked" looks like this:

So you would get a message in the e-mail and an attachment.

(They are the same because I was coding a simple test using the same data.)

And with just the attachment only checked you would get the same as above but without anything in the message body.

Just because something works doesn’t mean that there is not a better way or a more efficient way to do it.

In the depression era if a bank wanted to count pennys, you would sit at a table and dump the pennys out and count them by hand. You would roll them up in a special sleeve and have .50 if you counted them right. You may have .49, you may have .51.

Of course today if you went to a bank and you saw a bunch of people sitting around tables manually sorting coins and putting them into sleeves, you would probably think of banking elsewhere.

Don’t discount a process because it is new, and don’t hang onto a process just because “we have always done it that way”. Just because it has always been done that way doesn’t mean that it is the right way, it is just the only way you know how to do it. There may be more efficient ways to do something or even better ways to do it that are more cost effective, more accurate, and overall better for your business.

Here are a couple of links for my ABAP friends from the latest edition of the Developers newsletter. There now is an iphone app that does an sap netweaver quiz that seems to be pretty cool. Put together by a developer that was learning objective-c on the side. I was happy to see that working in abap and objective-c has it similarities so as soon as I can get my Mac upgraded so that I can put snow leopard on it, I will also be trying my hand at learning objective-c and developing app for the ipad to go with the SAP interface that already exists for the ipad.

My dream is to be able to develop useful apps for the IPAD that sap developers could find useful. Time will tell as upgrading a Mac is almost as expensive as buying a new one.

I have been reading blogs recently on how SAP does work on Mac os x, but that developers would lose some functionality like the screen painter. Personally speaking, I don’t see a whole lot of difference between the sap screen painter and visual basics screen painter. If that is indeed the correlation, that the sap screen painter uses visual basic functionality to perform its thing, then I would then conclude that the screen painter can be modified to work using a mac friendly version of visual basic called Real basic. From what I have been reading, Real basic is almost exactly like visual basic with some minor coding styles that would have to be addressed to get it to work, but for most top dog programmers at sap who have been translating their stuff into different program languages for years, should find the differences to be just in keywords.

The main reason that it would be great to get the sap gui to work natively on mac is because of the new IPAD. The new IPAD is going to be as big as the iphone and may eventually replace the iphone in a later version as you can Bluetooth into it and use a VOIP like skype to make your phone calls on it through the no contract service provided by AT&T. So to have apps developed that would link your IPAD to your companies MAC server would be cool at the least but also be a boost to productivity out in the field. The IPAD can link to your MAC also so if you have a presentation program like Renewed visions pro-presenter, you can present your presentations to clients and potential clients in a level of professionalism that Microsoft can only dream about. So let the fun begin.

LIPS / LIKP table join efficency

Had a bit of a poser with a report that was taking 9.43 minutes to run. The problem was at the LIPS and LIKP table join. The only search criteria available was the EBELN and EBELP fields from the EKKO / EKPO table. What was needed was to get the value of VBELN using VGBEL in LIPS so a link to LIKP could be established and a couple of fields could be retrieved from LIKP that way for the report based on an entire ITAB full of EBELN entries gathered from the PO tables. The secondary index of VGBEL is not active for the LIPS table so the SQL optimisers were ineffective. Tried many ways to get the efficiency up on the report but with over a million records to search though there was just no easy way for the program to get the information needed using this configuration.

There is good news though. There is a table that holds the delivery document numbers that are associated to the Purchase order documents numbers that is other than LIPS.
The EKES table hold the cross reference and is a table that has just Purchase Order related documents stored in it. So I joined the EKES table with my LIPS / LIKP join at LIPS-VBELN = EKES-VBELN and in the "for all entries in ITAB where" used Where EKES~EBELN = ITAB-EBELN. This linked my group of PO EBELN's to the VBELN numbers supplying the link I needed to join the LIPS and LIKP tables using their primary keys. The run time of the report is now .45 minutes.
Here is a runtime charting of the two versions of the program as it ran in the ECD test environment: Figure 1 show with just LIPS / LIKP joined using VGBEL as the search and Figure 2 shows the runtime after adding in the EKES table as the cross reference.

Using JAVA script in the ABAP workbench...

I have been reading up in the ABAPDOCU in SAP that there is a class available to use in ABAP that will simulate a JAVA Script engine.

The class is CL_JAVA_SCRIPT.

According to the documentation there are 4 things you need to do to get the JAVA Script engine to function in the ABAP environment.

You can use the CL_JAVA_SCRIPT class to execute JavaScript programs that, for example, have been loaded from external resources or programmed in an Editor you have written yourself: The following are the methods you use, in the sequence in which they are called:

CREATE to create a JavaScript context
CREATE to compile a JavaScript source in the current context
EXECUTE to execute a compiled JavaScript
EXECUTE to delete a compiled JavaScript from the context

Methods 2 to 4 are combined in the method EVALUATE.

I just used their class to write a hello world in JAVA SCRIPT also taken from their docu section…

When writing a report that you know is going to take a long time to run, and it is an interactive report, use the status bar function to help your user see how far into the processing the report is, and give them a little bit of an idea how long it may be before it is finished and it displays. Start at the start of selection and use the status function module…

“SAPGUI_PROGRESS_INDICATOR” is a SAP function module for doing just that. I started my program out with one just inside the start of selection. This didn’t seem to do much because it skips past the start of selection and into the form routines rather quickly. I put another one after the sequel statement loading the bulk of the data into the internal tables.

In the form routines that take a while to run put another one to help keep track of the progress.

Julian date and ABAP

It all started with a requirement to code a report in SAP that mirrored a legacy report. I was using a function module but wasn't quite getting the desired results.
So I checked out the code on the legacy system to see what it is doing and found that it is assigning a week number to the report based on the week that the report was run, not the week that the data in the report was for. Problem one solved.
Second problem was Julian day. It seems to keep the SAP report ans the legacy reports acting the same way, they will need to use the same date handling.
So the legacy code was looked at found to be very basic. week number = Julian + 7 / 7.
So the week number returned is next weeks number based on a Julian date card + seven days divided by 7. So how do I get the date in SAP to convert into a Julian number?

I looked, I searched, I checked out SDN forums, blogs and I even googled it. I didn't find Jack. Then I remembered having this same problem for a report I had written almost 6 months ago, so I looked it over and found the answer.
Calculate the Julian.

There is no function module to calculate the Julian you just have to do it.
I don't remember where I found the formula but it works and here is what you so:

Set up 2 working storage fields as local variables one type N (number) with a size of 3 to be the holder of the Julian day. the other is type D for date.
I left the local variables named the way I found them on my search way back then. so I have the following code:

DATA: Julian_day(3) TYPE n,
date_aux TYPE d.
CONCATENATE: s_date-low(4) '0101' INTO date_aux.
Julian_day = s_date-low + 3 - date_aux.
Julian_day = Julian_day + 1.
ws_report_week = ( Julian_day + 7 ) / 7.

To explain what this does is this... S-Date-low is a select-options required date for the report. it is the low date. It always will be Sunday for the report and being Sunday is either the first day of the week or the last day of the week depending on what calender you are looking at, I decided it would not be the best day to use so I add three to it and figure that Wednesday would be a good day to determine the report week for the program.
So I have taken the date and put the year [s_date-low(4)] and then the first day of the year ['0101'] and put that into a local field type date. [INTO date_aux]. Now that the first day of the year is determined, I can subtract that from the select-options date (+3 to get Wednesday). so using 03/28/2010 as a s_date-low example, I get 03/31/2010 - 01/01/2010 to get 089 and then add 1 to it to get the Julian day of 090. Now that I have the Julian day I can use the legacy coding to get my report week by taking Julian plus 7 (097) and dividing it by 7 to get 13.857 rounded or 14.
And 14 is the desired date so this will work. Keep in mind that 365 is not divisible by 7 so running with a date of 12/28 will get you a week of 53. We verified that the legacy is doing the same thing (same code so it doesn't surprise me any) and being that is how it is wanted then all is well.

This has rapidly become my favorite movie.
I went to see this Wednesday afternoon with my best friend at the IMax in 3D. The story is well written, you become very attached to the characters and the story in itself is excellent. I see this becoming the next star wars. I usually don't go and see many movies, but this is one I am going to see again, and if I can, again still. I foresee that I will also be having this in my collection of movies.

I would comment about the religious nay-Sayers and their pious view of the movie, but pharisee-ism pi##'s me off and I am in too good of a mood to let them get me down today. that will be a rant for a different day. Just go see the movie. Science fiction space movies are for enjoyment, so enjoy it.

It was about 3 years ago.

Maybe it been longer by now, it was winter and it was snowing heavily.

I had just pulled off from the expressway getting ready to do some Christmas shopping at the strip mall around the bend when I noticed a car that had lost control and was sitting on the ice of the retention pond.

There was a nice looking couple inside of the car dialing their cell phones. I assumed they were calling in the tow company or whatever to get help so I didn’t stop to see if assistance was needed.

I got done with my shopping and on the way home glanced over at where I saw the car and it was gone, not even a sign that one was there in the first place, no tire tracks in the snow like there was, it was like nothing had happened at all. I have heard that God will use angels to test us and I wonder if that was why there was a car there.

I think I failed the test because I was too pre-occupied during the Christmas rush of shopping to even check on them to see if they were o.k., I didn’t realize that the car was sitting on a frozen retention pond until recently when the incident was brought back into my memory. I had been like the Pharisee in the good Samaritan story who was too busy to help the man who had been robbed and passed by on the other side of the road.

What I think God was trying to teach me and that I haven’t really grasped until recently is that if that had been an actual event, that I could have possible saved them by helping out rather than going by on the other side of the street. The Samaritan stopped, even at great risk to his own safety, the robbers, in Jesus’ story, that beat the man and left for dead could also have been using the half dead man for bait to rob anyone else who stopped to help. I have heard stories of criminals doing that even today as they will pull off the road and have their flashers going and when someone pulls over to help, they rob them or worse. But the Samaritan stopped and had compassion on the man who was robbed and at a cost to him for his compassion. He took the man and put him up in what today would be considered a hotel and prepaid his stay there and told the hotel owner that if more expenses were incurred to place them on his bill and he would pay them on his return through the area. This is what Jesus was talking about in being a neighbor to the man who was robbed. The incident cost the Samaritan man time, money and safety, but chose to do the right thing rather than ignore the situation and go about his business oblivious to anyone else around him as we so often do even today.

Pastor Scott showed a video in service about someone else who is making a difference to those who need assistance. He works in the projects helping kids learn and do things that are productive and rewarding.

I was always afraid to even drive by there because you always hear about the crime in the projects, but never hear about the good in most of the people who are there. These same good people have to live with the crime that is there, worried about their own safety yet powerless to do anything about it. How far have we lost our understanding of what Jesus told us, that if we try to save our lives, we will lose it, but if we lose our life for His sake, we will gain life, real life. Compassion weekend is coming up soon and I guess my next test will be in how I respond to what God may ask me to do. I hope I have the courage to respond in the way that God wants me to.

using pro-presenter for your sermons points

Tried something different this past weekend as we started the new series titled “Yesterday”.

We were looking for a way to have a small movie file looping behind the bullet points and scripture references.

This appeared to be quite difficult if not impossible to do in key-note.

So we decided to use Pro-Presenter to present the sermon notes and slides and found it to work just fine.

So How do you do it?

Start with a new presentation and put a couple of blank slides into it.

Put the desired loop background onto a slide, this helps you in deciding what color font to use and where to position the fonts for best readability.

Now start typing in or using copy and paste if you are getting the notes of from a document.

It is good to know also that you can select and change font sizes not only as a whole but individually on words or even just certain letters as well. So I use a size 30 font for scripture references along with verse numbers and used a larger font like 42 for the passage in general. Depending on how busy the background is supposed to be determines how much verbiage is placed on each slide.

You can copy and paste your template slide and keep adding text. If you have a series logo that will be used between points, this can be added as well.

Put a blank slide ( key the + sign) and then using command key drag your picture or .mov file up to the presentation layer of the window and drop it on the blank slide you just added. This puts a background queue directly into the presentation and as you are arrow through the presentation during the sermon, the backgrounds change automatically as you select them in the show.

You can also do the same thing if you have a movie clip, or even an audio clip to play. As you drag it up to the presentation level of the window, a queue gets created for the object so that when selected, whatever the object is begins to play.

Be sure to save your work often as nothing is more discouraging then to get a great deal of the show down and have a malfunction of some sort wipe it out.

You now have a presentation that takes your show to the next level of professionalism. Try to remember to use a fairly subtle moving background behind the text as to not become distracting and actually take away from the point of the text instead of enhancing it.

So have fun with it and remember who we really are working for.

It’s for His glory and honor that we spend so much time in effort putting together the best shows possible to help the teaching pastor or speaker present the message to the audience.

The church has a reputation of being control freaks, do this or your going to hell, do that or you will burn. they loved to use FEAR to keep us under their control.
Many of us are so gullable that we don't even look passages up in the Bible that are being shoved down our throats to see if what is being taught is really valid.
My pet peave is just that. people taking Doctrine and making that doctrin scripture.
Should it not be the other way around?

I am so thankfull that I go to a Bible believing, Bible teaching, Read it your self and see if it jives type of church. Religion used to really torque of the master as even in Jesus' day, the religious leaders would do exactly the same thing. they would take the law of moses and use bits and pieces of that to create new laws, new regulations. Jesus used to tell everyone that you need to know the truth, and it is the truth that sets you free.

I was reminded of this as I listened to a podcast from church on the move, and as soon as the speaker said "let's pray", the podcast ended.

Too bad, The message was about boldness in the Lord, having the spirit of power and of love and of a sound mind. A part of me just was longing

to be brought into God's presence through prayer.

I started recording the services at my church quite a while ago now, and it was suggested that the recording be stopped just before the prayer, but I always felt deep inside to stop the recordings just after the prayer, because God is always on time. Someone months, maybe even years from now could be listening to the service and it will be the first time that anyone has prayed for them, and God will be there. Right on time, not a minute late, not a minute early, and even if it is just one person whom takes that step closer to God because of something that was said, even in prayer, then recording the whole thing was worth it.

I just heard on the radio that the new politically correct word for cheating on an exam is acedemic dishonesty, and the cheater will be allowed to retake the exam.

That’s nuts. If you cheat on an exam you should fail the exam. otherwise we truly are now calling good evil and evil good for those who do not cheat are stuck with the grades they get while the cheaters get to redo the exam and everyone knows that you always do better on an exam the second time around because you know what the questions are now and can cheat more honestly by studying for those questions.

It just sucks that the honest get screwed like that.

I have to admit it, I love taking pictures. I love looking at pictures that I took or that others have taken of friends family and aquaintenances.

I am a sentamentalist and pictures is just another way of expressing oneself poetically. It likes being artisitc but with a camera.

I still use 35mm, and the reason that I do is that digital camera that take good high resolution pictures are still not affordable for me yet.

But I do have a good work around for that. I develop tha film and have it put on a cd at the place I have it developed at. This place is good and

I get high resolution pictures on CD that I then upload into my computer. I have blogged some of these pictures. I should blog more.

Anyway, I just love to look at Gods creation as captured on film which is not as good as being there but still good enough to give you a sense of being there,

or with whoever and whatever was in the photo.

There are many times that I will look through my pictures and laugh out loud at some of the goofy things or people I took pictures of, Its great. It’s a good

way as well to releave stress and keep your memory alive my exercizing your brain, and besides if you don't go overboard with it, photography is a cool hobby to have.

Sometimes you just have to take training into your own hands. When I first became a programmer, we were and currently are using Cobol, in fact two flavors of Cobol at that. So I went and bought me a book and learned structured programming on my own. transferring many of the structuring ideas into some of the programs I was writing. I have been at it now almost 5 years.

The flavor of program language is changing again and again I find myself lacking in the training department so I have got me another book. ABAP objects. The book comes with 2 cd's as well and 530 pages of useful information on learning to program using ABAP and ABAP objects. I just hope that the ABAP workbench will install on my laptop (MAC osx tiger), If not I will have to install boot camp which means shelling out another $100 bucks to get a full version of windows XP 2nd edition. either way is fine. I have a work bench installed on my vista system, it’s the trial version for learning with that you can download from SDN. It is a 3gb download so be prepared for it to take what seems like forever. The problem with my vista machine is 1. it’s a vista machine (no further explanation needed), 2. it is in the family room where all the noise resides. For some reason sponge bob doesn't spark creativity in me, I more want to just run screaming out of the room.

So I really need to get this installed on my macbook so that I can go anywhere where it is quiet and work on learning. I have written my first training exercise that they have given at work and it went pretty good with the exception of my inner join was referencing a child table first instead of a parent table. I am getting a grasp on the one to many concept where your main referencing table should be the one in one to many and the child tables in the joins should be the line item references that are joined by primary keys in the program. It should go alright now. Rewrote the code and tested it and with the exception of one of the child tables being incomplete (it’s a discovery test system sandbox), so I had to de-link one of the primary reference keys to get the program working again. I kept a copy of the correctly written code for later use in the event that they get the table fixed on the sandbox. So this weekend, I am planning on diving right into geekdom and get a jump start on learning. wish me luck, and may the Schwartz be with you. (as said by yogurt in space balls)

Got into a discussion with a Baptist friend about innovation in the church, drawing in the lost with technology, upbeat music. Their theology doesn't agree with pulling in the lost that way.

He said what good is it to bring them in if they eventually move on and go somewhere else?

My thought on that is this… So what. We exist to plant seeds in the hearts and live of those needing Christ. If after we plant the seeds they decide to move on to another church and get that seed cultivated there, who's business is that but Gods. It is God who does the work anyway, we are just told to plant the seed and if possible cultivate it. God will bring about the increase in their life. We can't save anyone. It is not our job. It is God's job to take the message and convict unbelieving people of their error. When we start thinking that it is our job to convict people, we become judge mental and ineffective in drawing people to Christ, matter of fact like putting two negative sides of a magnet together, we usually end up repelling people away from Christ that way. We have to approach reaching people the same way Christ reached people. Take your theological bull and set it aside. Christ reached people through relationships. He befriended the friendless, helped the hopeless, was kind to the wretched, The Holy Spirit that was in him convicted people more than anything he said. He forgave them, ate with them, and took the load of baloney they were carrying from them and set them free. Free from religion, free to follow Christ. free from guilt and shame. If Christ has forgiven someone, who do I think I am if I condemn them? They shall know that they are my followers by their LOVE. God is LOVE, LOVE comes from God. so let's just stop. stop being pious about how church services should look, for if we really think about it, even your church service the way it is would be considered heresy 100 years ago-get over it.

I follow several SAP mentors and one that is proving to be very helpful in the information that is available has a website called "The ABAP freak", strange name but very good content.
The website is Here. So anyway, the videos are very interesting in showing just how powerful the SAP system can be. I liked this video HERE as it shows just how much you can use the web dynpro ABAP is building your sites web pages for your customers to use in purchasing online and how you can embed your own advertising videos and announcements right into the page. This may not seem like a new idea to most, but it is cool none less the same. I am looking forward to seeing what we can do with the new system and how much that can increase sales as well. here is the embed video from the site. (I like being able to embed, it makes things so much easier).

Makes me wonder, living in such a greed driven society, if Johnnie wouldn't have been fired here.
People are too busy here for kindness to others or from others.
They are too stressed out to give, or to genuinely love.
I am reminded of a quote: "It is not how much you love but how much you are loved by others", but I would like to add this, It really is how much you love, because it is how much you are loving others that triggers that love in return. I saw that Love in action at church this weekend, with a toy drive for the less fortunate, not to give toys away, but to sell them for $2.00 each to those in the community who could not afford to give their kids gifts otherwise. The money raised gets donated as well, you can check it out by going to the orchards website or community 412's site. That's another way love is expressed, through generosity. God is love and gave to us generously and so the deceiver wants us to believe the opposite and think that joy comes from what we get, not from what we give. If we could just understand that, and if everyone started to give, we could literally change the world.

Learn how to overcome depression, love. love without expecting love in return. The reason you love without expecting love back is that you then are not disappointed if you don't get love back, but you are pleasantly surprised when you do. Friends are the (one of the) greatest gift God has given us (Christ is the greatest gift and guess what, He is also a friend!!). Love your friends. I have several good friends and I love them dearly. God blesses my heart when I bless them and the more they smile, the better I feel, the better I am in general, and the more joy I have.
So even if your friends are not perfect, love them anyway, they love you and your not perfect. Don't expect anything more from your friends that you would want them expecting of you as well.

I am most Thankful for very good friends. My friends bless me beyond what words can express. I have 4 most excellent friends. Their names are Bert, Brent, Pam and Doug. I may soon be adding a new friend to that list by the name of Sue.

Bert is always there when I need a friend to talk to and to Love. She is family and it is a honor and a privilege to call her friend.

I have known Brent since high school and He is another friend I can talk to, to a point.

Pam and Doug are a married couple I have known since I was 16 (almost 30 years ago now) I am very thankful for them.

Just thinking about these people that have blessed me so much helped to pull me out of a depression spell that I got into when I started to think about what I didn't have instead of what I did have. I am a very happy man now. I know I can call any of these friends and they will bless me even if it just saying hello to them. I pray that everyone learns how to count their blessings instead of their liabilities.

Money and material possessions are nice, but it is the kindness and Love you can only get from a friend and that you can give to a friend that satisfies the soul and heart and gives you a glimpse of what it will be like in heaven when we will always be in God's presence, being around genuine true love in its most purest form…man gets me homesick but until then, I plan on being the best friend I possibly can be to these my true and good friends.

I hope I always remember that people who love you are the way God blesses you and vice-versa.

Thought for today… Love can't be bought, it can only be given.
